Blake Jacklin brings all-star bat back to Kitchener
KITCHENER - A familiar face will be back in the Kitchener outfield this upcoming season.
Blake Jacklin has re-signed with the team, and will play his fourth IBL season with the Panthers in 2024.
The St. Jacobs native was a second team all-star in the IBL last year and in his rookie season in 2021. He was also a second-team all-star during the broadcaster ballot in 2022.
He hit for a .361 batting average last season - sixth in the IBL and third on the team - and hit primarily in the leadoff spot. Jacklin also walked 24 times, utilizing his spot quite well, posting a .460 on-base percentage.
He also benefitted from Kitchener’s aggressive approach on the basepath, leading the team with 19 stolen bases on 23 attempts.
Jacklin left before the end of the 2023 season due to NCAA commitments. He accepted a baseball scholarship with East Tennessee State University, where he is hitting .261 in his first season with the Buccaneers.
He previously played collegiately with Yavapai College and Davenport University.
“Blake is an offensive catalyst for us,” said Panthers general manager Mike Boehmer. “When he gets on base, he makes things happen. In addition to Blake’s offense, he is an outstanding defensive player, combining speed and a strong arm.
“We look forward to another excellent season from Blake Jacklin.”
The Panthers begin its 105th IBL season at home to the Hamilton Cardinals on Thursday, May 16. Get your season tickets, FLEX packs or single-game tickets HERE.
