CUBAN PANTHERS LEAD MATANZAS TO CHAMPIONSHIP

With 4 Cuban Kitchener Panthers on their pitching staff, the Matanzas Crocodiles defeated the Camaguey Bulls, in 6 games, to win their first Cuban Baseball Championship in 29 years. Last year Matanzas finished last in the 16 team National Series.

Former Panthers ace, Noelvis Entenza ,who won 25 games with the Panthers in 2016-2018, was outstanding in Game 6, taking a 2 hit shutout into the 7th inning. Jonder Martinez, who pitched for the Panthers in 2018 recorded the final 8 outs. Martinez got the win for the relief, in the first game of the finals, and now has 191 wins in Cuban baseball.

In Game 3, Panthers All Star Pitcher Yoennis Yera was dominant in Matanzas 6-1 win.  Jonder Martinez got the save.  Miguel Lahera pitched well in 2 outings out of the bullpen in the series.

In addition to the 4 Cuban Panthers, Matanzas featured former LA Dodger, Erisbel Arruebarrena, Yurisbel Gracial, the Japanese Playoff MVP, and a number of Cuban National Team players

Panthers All Star shortstop Yorbis Borroto  played well for a strong Camaguey Bulls team in a losing cause. Camaguey featured former MLB player Leslie Anderson, Cuba’s top pitcher Lazaro Blanco, and a number of Cuban National Team Players.
