First extra innings game doesn't go well for Panthers

The Panthers dropped a 5-4 decision to the Welland Jackfish in 10 innings

In Kitchener's first foray into extra innings, things didn't go according to plan.

Welland cashed in the runner that started the 10th on second base, while the Panthers could only move theirs to third, and the Jackfish took down Kitchener 5-4 Sunday afternoon at Jack Couch Park.

The loss means London clinched first place in the IBL standings, and the first-round bye, but the top spot has long been the last thing on the mind of Panthers manager Don Menard.

He has maintained the focus is on clinching second place and home field advantage in the first-round of the postseason.

The Kitchener Panthers next Home Game is Thursday, September 2nd, when the Hamilton Cardinals visit Jack Couch Park for a doubleheader. Both games are 7 innings. The first game begins at 6:00pm.
