Five-run inning burns Panthers against Brantford
KITCHENER - A two-run double from former Panther AJ Karosas capped off a five-run inning for the Brantford Red Sox Wednesday night, as they went on to beat Kitchener 12-4.
Kitchener took the early lead with Petey Kiefer's two-run double in the first inning.
Raffi Gross drove in the other two runs on a single in the sixth inning.
Evan Elliott gave up five runs on eight hits in four innings of work in the loss. He struck out four.
Anthony Porcellato nabbed the win for Brantford, going 5.1 innings and striking out six batters. Brody Black and Chris Ortega had home runs for the Red Sox.
Zane Skansi led the way for the Panthers with three hits, and recorded three stolen bases. On that note, Yunior Ibarra was solid behind the plate, catching three base runners stealing.
Kitchener dropped to 13-26 on the year, while Brantford improved to 13-22.
The Panthers host Toronto Thursday night at 7:05 p.m.
