Fujie's extra innings blast snaps Kitchener's skid
CHATHAM-KENT - The losing streak is over!
Yosuke Fujie hit a three-run home run in the 10th inning, which proved to be the difference-maker as Kitchener beat Chatham-Kent 8-5 Tuesday night at Fergie Jenkins Field.
The win snapped a nine-game losing skid for Kitchener, as the team collected its first win after the all-star weekend.
Chatham had a 4-3 lead before Mateo Zeppieri hit a two-run shot in the fourth to give Kitchener a one-run lead.
Yushin Ohta's solo shot in the seventh tied the game.
Jorge Minyety gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits in three innings in the start for Kitchener. Ernesto Punales collected the win after two scoreless innings of work.
Kitchener improves to 11-24 on the year, while the Barnstormers fell to 9-24.
The Panthers host Guelph Thursday at 7:05 p.m.
