GAME 3: Jackfish sweep Panthers in extra inning thriller
WELLAND - Robert Mullen's 10th inning blast ended the Kitchener Panthers season.
But it almost went the other way in Welland Saturday.
Kitchener got hits from eight of its nine batters in the game, including three hits from Runta Osawa and two hits from Petey Kiefer. Both Kiefer hits ended with a run on the board, though he only got credit for the one RBI.
The Panthers scored two runs in the top of the ninth to take a 5-4 lead. But with two out in the home half, Welland got to Jake Liberta who came in for the save after an eight inning performance from Evan Elliott.
And after going three up, three down in the top of the 10th, Mullen led off the bottom of the inning with a home run on the first pitch.
Elliott gave up four runs on five hits, walking three and striking out four. Danny Garcia took the loss.
Deivy Mendez was credited with the win for Welland, who move on to the semifinal.
Thank you to all Panther fans for your support this 2025 season, and we will be back to #PackTheJack for 2026!
