GAME 3: Second straight blowout puts Panthers on brink
WELLAND - The Kitchener Panthers are on the brink of elimination.
A six-run first inning was more than enough for the Welland Jackfish, who cruised to a 16-1 win over the Panthers Saturday evening to take a 2-1 series lead.
Pedro De Los Santos was chased from the game after just two innings, giving up eight runs (four earned) on nine hits.
He walked two and didn't get a strikeout. Of note, just seven of Welland's 16 runs were earned.
Enrique Saldana kept the Panthers to just two hits and two walks through eight innings. He struck out three in the win.
The lone Kitchener run came in the fourth, when a wild pitch allowed Spenser Ross to make it home.
Robert Mullen also hit a grand slam to add insult to injury as part of a six-run sixth inning.
Nick Parsons went three-for-four for Kitchener, while Raul Gonzalez garnered the only other Kitchener hit of the night.
Kitchener faces a must-win Tuesday night at home to save its season. First pitch at Jack Couch Park is 7:30 p.m.
