KITCHENER - The Kitchener Panthers continue to be victimized by the long ball.
Barrie launched four over the fence, including a Hayden Jaco grand slam and three-run shot from Nolan Machibroda to give the visitors a 10-5 win Sunday afternoon.
Ryan Rijo and Brandon Hernandez both hit solo shots for the Baycats.
The multi-run homers came as part of an early surge, with Barrie scoring four runs in both the third and fourth to take hittan 8-0 lead.
Nick Parsons responded with his seventh of the season in the bottom of the fourth.
But Juan Benitez was strong on the hill for Barrie, giving up five hits and two runs (one earned) in seven innings of work. He struck out a pair and walked one in the win.
Jose Vasquez was tagged with the loss. He was pulled in the fourth after giving up the Machibroda home run.
Vasquez finished the day with three strikeouts in 3.1 innings. He gave up 11 hits and eight runs (seven earned).
Some positives to take away for Kitchener: Raul Gonzalez hit a two-run home run in the eighth, his seventh HR of the season (to tie Parsons for the team lead). Gonzalez has reached base in 14 straight games.
Spenser Ross and Tyler Hinrikus both collected three hits on the day. Ross' hitting streak is now up to four games, with three multi-hit games among them.
Parsons' hitting streak reaches 14 games and has three home runs in July.
Yunior Ibarra also hit a home run in the loss.
Sunday's game was delayed two hours due to rain in the forecast.
Kitchener drops to 10-16 on the season, while Barrie improves to 16-8.
