Panthers Bats Explode In Home Opener

The Panthers played their first home game at Jack Couch Park in almost two years, the energetic crowd in Kitchener was just as exciting as the Panthers bats.

Kitchener pounded Welland pitching to the tune of 18 runs off of 15 hits and 4 Welland errors on the day.  Liam Wilson lead the Panthers attack with 3 hits and 8 RBI.  Lucas Diluca had a 2/4 day with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored.

Kitchener got out to a 14-0 lead through 5 innings when Welland broke through for 2 of their runs in the 6th inning after the first two Jackfish reached base against Panthers pitcher Liam Devine.A RBI single and a Passed Ball got Welland on the board.Dane Tofteland would club a home run in the 9th for the Jackfish to finish their scoring.

Brady Schnarr would close out the game for the Panthers and seal the 18-7 win over the Jackfish and deliver their first victory of the season after the Panthers dropped their opener in London on Friday night.

The next Panthers home game is on Tuesday, July 20th at 7:30pm against the Brantford Red Sox.  Tickets to the game must be purchased online on the Panthers website under the “tickets” tab or through this link
