Panthers bounced by Baycats in Barrie

BARRIE - The losses are piling up for the Kitchener Panthers.

Kitchener took an early lead in Barrie, but couldn't pick up the W, losing 7-3 to the Baycats Thursday night.

Raul Gonzalez hit a solo shot to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning, but Nolan Machibroda tied it with one swing of the bat in the bottom half of the inning.

From there, Barrie added two more in the fifth and that was more than enough.

Seven Panthers got hits, while Blake Jacklin went three-for-three on stolen bases.

Pedro De Los Santos took the loss for Kitchener, giving up five runs on six hits in 5.1 innings of work. He walked three and fanned seven.

Cesar Rosado went six innings, giving up two runs on four hits, walking two batters and striking out six to get the win.

Kitchener now heads the opposite direction to Chatham-Kent for its final visit to Fergie Jenkins Field Friday.

The Panthers host Guelph Sunday at 5:15 p.m. and Welland Monday at 7:30 p.m.
