Panthers Can't Complete Series Comeback
On a night where it looked like it would be a pitcher’s duel through the first 4 innings, it turned out to be anything but.
Ryan Spataro took Yoen Socarras’ first pitch of the evening over the wall in left for a leadoff home run and a 1-0 Barrie lead. That would be the only run the Baycats would need, but not the only run they got.
Socarras wouldn’t allow another run until the 5th when Barrie scored four times to push their lead to 5-0. Ryan Rijo had a two run single for the Baycats in the frame. Barrie put the game out of reach in the 6th scoring 9 runs in the frame. Playoff MVP Ryan Spataro hit his second home run of the evening, this time a 3 run shot off of Panthers reliever Mike Schnurr. By the time the final outs of the 6th inning were recorded the Baycats were up 14-0. Barrie would add a final run in the 8th off of Brady Schnarr when Jeff Cowan had a pinch hit Sac Fly to score Ryan Rijo.
Baycats starter Adrian Salcedo went 8 strong innings for the Baycats scattering three hits and three walks to go along with five strikeouts. Brad Bissell pitched a scoreless 9th for Barrie to secure the 15-0 win in Game 6 and give the Baycats a 6th straight IBL championship.
The Panthers would like to extend their congratulations to the Baycats organization on six straight titles, it’s a great accomplishment and it made for a very entertaining final.
The Panthers would like to thank all of the players, coaches, sponsors, and volunteers who made the 2019 season possible. The Panthers would like to also thank you, the fans for coming out and supporting the boys through the dog days of summer, without you this wouldn’t be possible.
