Panthers Can't Contain Royals Bats
Guelph jumped on Kitchener starter Geoff Moroz in the 1st when former Panther Josh Garton hit his 1st of 3 home runs on the day for the Royals giving Guelph a 1-0 lead. Kitchener tied the game in the 2nd when Zarley Cina took Guelph starter Edwin Javier deep to left field.
Guelph broke the game open in the 3rd scoring five runs with Angel Villalona going deep for a three-run home run.
Guelph scored four more runs in the 4th inning on three home runs to get out to a 10-1 lead. Kitchener got four more back in the bottom of the inning, Andy Leader chipped in with a two run single in the frame.
Garton and Villalona went deep again in the 6th inning for the Royals to extend the lead to 13-5. Kitchener tried to claw back scoring five in the bottom of the 8th off of Javier and Matt Schmidt. Leader continued his nice day with another RBI single.
Guelph put any hope of a Panthers comeback to bed in the top of the 9th scoring five runs in the frame with Ethan Mohan and Josh Garton going deep again, the home runs were the 8th and 9th on the day for the Royals as Kitchener would fall 18-10.
The Panthers last regular season home game is on Thursday, August 1st at 7:30pm against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
