Panthers Clinch 2nd Seed, Begin Playoffs Thursday vs London

The Kitchener Panthers entered the 2023 season with high hopes of a significant turnaround following a rough 2022 season which saw the team finish with a 6th place, 15 and 27 record. As the dust has now settled on the 2023 regular season, the revamped Panthers find themselves having secured a 2nd place finish and a record of 26 and 15.

With a win against the 3rd place Barrie Baycats this past Sunday by a score of 10-2, the Panthers cemented their spot as the 2nd seed and now look ahead to a first round matchup vs the 7th seed London Majors which is set to begin on Thursday at 7:30 PM at Jack Couch Park.

On the season, the Panthers hold a 4 and 2 record against London with the most recent game between the two teams having been played on Friday, August 11th as the Panthers won by a score of 6-2 thanks to a complete game gem thrown by starting pitcher Yadian Martinez.

The Majors are the IBL back to back champions and despite having a down season, will surely provide a competitive 1st round matchup for the Panthers.

The Panthers will be looking for their starting pitching rotation of Christian Hauck, Yamichel Perez, Yadian Martinez and Jose Vasquez to continue giving the team a chance to win on any given day and for high leverage relievers such as Brady Schnarr and Jordan Bahnuk to continue closing the door on opponents in the late innings of ballgames.

Offensively, the Panthers will look for their heart of the order comprised of Andy Leader, Liam Wilson, Raul Gonzalez and Elliot Curtis to continue providing high octane offence as they have all season.
