Panthers drop close one to Red Sox
BRANTFORD - An eighth inning RBI single made the difference as the Brantford Red Sox took down Kitchener 3-2 Sunday afternoon at Arnold Anderson Stadium.
Dionys Rodriguez went the distance for Kitchener, striking out six in eight innings of work. He walked three and gave up three runs on eight hits in the loss.
Brantford scored two runs in the first, but Kitchener responded with two runs in the seventh, including an RBI single by Malik Williams to drive in his brother Josh.
Yosvani Penalver and Malik Williams both registered two hits in the loss.
Kitchener drops to 10-16, while Brantford improves to 9-16.
The Panthers remain half a game up on the Red Sox for sixth in the CBL, but trail Guelph by five games for the final playoff spot.
The Panthers welcome Toronto this Thursday for Oktoberfest Night at Jack Couch Park.
