Panthers edged in slugfest with Majors

KITCHENER - A back and forth battle did not go the Panthers way.

London and Kitchener went big inning for big inning, but the Majors pitching held up at the end in a 12-10 Majors win at Jack Couch Park Monday night.

London went up 4-0 after the first, before Kitchener answered with a five-run second to take the lead.

It would be short lived as the Majors would score another four in the third to take the lead right back.

Starling Joseph and Byron Reichstein hit home runs for London in the win. Joseph's long ball went along with a trio of singles on the four-for-four outing.

Nolan Misa led the hit parade for Kitchener, going four-for-six with two RBI.

Raul Gonzalez, Ryan Burnside, Yunior Ibarra, Jorden Carthy and Liam McTague also had multi-hit outings.

Gonzalez's RBI ground out in the seventh put him at 100 RBI in his IBL career (season and playoffs).

Pedro De Los Santos went three innings and took the loss. He gave up eight runs on six hits, fanning three and walking five.

Jonathan Henry takes the win, going two innings of relief for starter Travis Keys. Henry gave up four runs on six hits.

Kitchener loses, despite garnering 18 hits off of London pitching, stranding a runner in eight of nine innings, including the bases loaded in the first.

Kitchener drops to 13-28 on the season. London improves to 25-15 and are two games up on Guelph for third place.

The Panthers wrap up the regular season Tuesday at 7:35 p.m. on the road in Hamilton.
