Panthers go winless on weekend road trip

KITCHENER - It just wasn't meant to be this weekend.

The Kitchener Panthers dropped a pair of games on the road to fall to 2-8 on the season.

On Saturday, the Welland Jackfish handed the Panthers an 11-5 loss.

Of note, Pedro De Los Santos made his Kitchener debut. The former London Major went 3.2 innings, giving up four runs on eight hits, He struck out four and was tagged with the loss.

Jett Jarvis, Simon Grinberg and Stephen Whalen recorded two hits apiece, but Welland took control in the later stages, posting three runs in the fourth and five in the seventh.

On Sunday, it was close but no cigar as Brantford took a 2-1 decision at Arnold Anderson Stadium.

Dakota Parsons recorded the loss, despite an impressive outing. He struck out nine batters and gave up just two runs (one earned) off seven Red Sox hits.

Brantford had the 1-0 lead going into the seventh, when Kitchener tied it with Raul Gonzalez crossing the plate on a putout to Yunior Ibarra.

Ethan Paulos knocked in an RBI single in the bottom half of the seventh, and that stood as the winner.

Kitchener was able to muster just four hits in the loss, one from Jarvis, who now has hits in six of his last seven games.

The Panthers have a few days off before hosting the Toronto Maple Leafs Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
