Panthers offense dries up against Barrie

KITCHENER - After scoring 20 runs 24 hours ago, the Kitchener Panthers couldn't pick up where they left off with the bats.

The Barrie Baycats used a five-run fourth inning to its advantage, and kept the momentum rolling in a 12-4 decision for the visitors Sunday at Jack Couch Park.

The defending IBL champs hit six home runs, the pitching staff recorded 15 punch outs and left fielder Tristan Clarke stole a home run away from Yunior Ibarra.

Everything was working for the Baycats. Little worked for the Panthers.

Yosuke Fujie and Nico KyRose had home runs in the ninth for Kitchener, but it was too little too late.

Owen MacNeil went 3.2 innings in the loss. He gave up six runs off five hits, walked three and struck two.

Ethan Morris recorded the win, fanning six in five innings of work, giving up seven hits and one run.

The Panthers have a busy week ahead, with a pair of home-and-homes with Hamilton and Guelph, beginning Thursday at home against the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m.
