Panthers Pick Up 3rd Win With Decisive 12-3 Victory

The Kitchener Panthers took to the road on Friday evening looking to get back in the win column against the Hamilton Cardinals after dropping a mid week contest to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Cambridge native, Jose Vasquez, took to the mound for his first start as a Panther and delivered a very convincing outing on route to his first win of the season. Jose scattered 5 hits across 6.2 innings of work, allowing 2 earned runs and striking out 10.

David Bruinsma , Brady Schnarr and Brett Reid combined to shut down the Cardinals’ bats in the final 2.1 innings of the game.

Offensively, the Panthers were led by outfielder, Blake Jacklin, who went 4 for 6 with 4 runs scored and 2 stolen bases on the day. Jett Jarvis also had 2 hits, 2 RBI and a stolen base in the contest while Stephen Whalen had a pair of hits as well.

The Panthers lone extra base hit came in the 6th inning off the bat of Liam Wilson as he hit a 2 run home run off the scoreboard in left to give the Panthers a 5-2 lead.

The score remained close until the Panthers broke things open with a 5 run eighth inning to increase the score to 11-3 before tacking on 1 more in the ninth inning.

Looking Ahead

The Panthers will look to pick up their fourth win of the season this Sunday as they host the Guelph Royals at Jack Couch Park for a 2:00 PM contest.

The team will be looking to keep their red hot bats going as they have scored 53 runs through their first 4 games and have hit 11 doubles and 11 home runs as a team so far.
