PANTHERS RE-SIGN ALL-STAR ANDY LEADER

The Kitchener Panthers are pleased to welcome back 2021 2nd team IBL All-Star Outfielder, Andy Leader (Kitchener, ON), for his 5th season with the team.

True to his name, Andy is a team “leader” and an integral piece of the team’s young core. A fan favourite, the 24 year old Kitchener Minor Baseball product is a versatile offensive threat and one of the league’s top outfielders. Leader will once again be relied upon as an impact player in the Panthers lineup. In 2021, Andy posted career highs in batting average (.327), homeruns (4), doubles (8), and runs (21) across 25 regular season games on way to being selected as one of the Panthers’ three league All-Stars. His regular season success carried over into the playoffs where he recorded a scorching .571 average.

Leader, no stranger to success, is a former collegiate standout with NJCAA D1 Colby Community College (Colby, Kansas) where he amassed a .348 average, 14 homeruns and 90 RBI across two seasons. He then transferred to NCAA D1 Canisius College (Buffalo, NY) where he led the 2020 Golden Griffins in batting average, hits and total bases in his senior season. Equally as impressive in the classroom, Andy was named to the Conference All-Academic team in both of his two years at Canisius.

Panthers GM, Mike Boehmer, comments; “We are very pleased to have Andy Leader back with us for the 2022 Season. Andy came up through the Kitchener Minor Baseball Association, and has quickly developed into one of the IBL’s top outfielders. Andy is a 5 tool player, and brings excitement to the ballpark, whether he’s in the field, at the plate, or on the bases.”

Fans, please join us in giving Andy a warm welcome back to the 2022 Kitchener Panthers!
