Panthers Re-Sign Local Standout Jacklin

The Kitchener Panthers are pleased to announce the re-signing of standout local, Blake Jacklin (St. Jacobs, ON), for his third season patrolling the outfield in Kitchener.

Building off of a very successful rookie season in 2021 featuring a .372 batting average and a 2nd Team IBL All-Star selection, Jacklin’s sophomore campaign saw him finish 4th in the league in batting average (.371) and notch 4 home runs, 30 RBI, 36 runs scored and compile a .930 OPS as the 21 year old outfielder established himself as one of the most versatile players in the league despite his young age. He was selected as an IBL Broadcasters 2nd Team All-Star to recognize his success.

Amongst his IBL peers in the 2001 birth year, Jacklin has stood alone in terms of production and projects to have a very exciting baseball career ahead of himself.

The Waterloo Minor Baseball and Great Lake Canadians product spent time at NCAA D2 powerhouse Davenport University but has made the decision to transfer to Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona for the 2023 spring season. The Yavapai Roughriders are held in very high regard as a perennial powerhouse D1 Junior College and will allow for Jacklin to gain great exposure to continue his promising baseball career.

Blake’s impressive career numbers in the IBL to date played a major role in his recruitment process with Yavapai and the Panthers are very proud to see a local player with an outstanding work ethic and attitude receive this well deserved opportunity.

With his athleticism, positive attitude and competitive mindset, Blake has plenty of potential for growth in his game and projects to be a core piece of the Panthers for years to come.

Panthers GM, Mike Boehmer, comments; “We are very pleased to have Blake Jacklin back with us in 2023. Blake has had an outstanding first two years with us, hitting for a high average, and using his speed on the bases and in the outfield. He is part of what we feel is the best young outfield in the IBL.”
