Panthers Record First Win of the Season on Full Team Effort

Kitchener scored seven straight runs to pull away from Brantford in a 7-1 victory Friday night at Arnold Anderson Stadium.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Panthers answered back in the Third inning with Andy Leader picking up an RBI to tie the game followed by an RBI single by Liam Wilson. The Panthers would go on to score 5 more unanswered runs in the game, blowing it open with four runs in the fifth, capped by Keegan Marsden’s two-run triple.

Simon Grinberg went 4-for-4 and scored three times for the Panthers. Andy Leader had three hits and an RBI, Tyler Hinrikus picked up two hits and scored once, Jett Jarvis singled twice, Keegan Marsden had a Triple and 3 RBI and Liam Wilson had a hit and 2 RBI. This is the second game in a row that the Panthers have picked up 15 hits as a team.

Christian Hauck set the tone for the Panthers on the mound, throwing 6 very strong Innings, allowing only 4 hits, racking up 8 strikeouts and allowing 0 earned runs on route to his, and the Panthers’, first win of the season.

The bullpen was equally as impressive, with Matt Stoddart making his season debut and throwing a scoreless 7th Inning, followed by David Bruinsma and Nathan Laird throwing scoreless innings of their own.

Looking Ahead

The Panthers Play host to Dalton Pompey and the Guelph Royals for a Sunday, May 29th afternoon game at Jack Couch Park. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 PM. This is our Kitchener Minor Baseball Appreciation Game. All KMBA players, travel and house league, who show up in uniform will receive free admittance. Coaches are also included in this offer.
