PANTHERS RELEASE 2022 SCHEDULE

The Kitchener Panthers are excited to release their complete 2022 regular season schedule which will begin in the middle of May and conclude on August 20th. This will be the 103rd year of operation for both the Intercounty Baseball League and the Kitchener Panthers (one of the league’s five founding members).

The schedule will see all 8 IBL organizations compete in a 42 game schedule, up from the traditional 36, with 21 games at home and 21 games on the road. The Panthers will face each team for a total of 6 games with 3 at home and 3 on the road.

All 8 teams will qualify for the playoffs, with the Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals each being a best of 5 series. The length of the Finals is yet to be determined as a best of 5 or best of 7 series are both options.

To open the season, the Panthers will be looking to spoil the Home Opener festivities of the defending IBL champion, London Majors, as they travel down to Labatt Park on Friday, May 20th.

Three days later, on Monday, May 23, the Panthers will have Home Opener festivities of their own as they face the Barrie Baycats for a 5:00 pm Victoria Day showdown.

Other 2022 Panthers schedule highlights include:

  • A first shot at redemption against last year’s playoff opponent, Brantford Red Sox, on Friday, May 27th (Away)
  • On the road for 7 of 8 games between June 17th and July 1st
  • Visiting the Guelph Royals on July 1st for an afternoon game to celebrate Canada Day
  • Finishing the season with 9 of the final 12 games, between July 24th and August 21st , at home
  • Hosting the Guelph Royals on Sunday, August 21st to culminate the 2022 regular season

Of Kitchener’s 21 home games, 10 will take place on Thursday evenings at 7:30, 8 will take place on Sunday afternoons at 2:00pm, 2 will take place on Sundays at 5:00 pm and the May 23 game at 5:00 pm is the only home game scheduled for a Monday.

All home games are to be played at Jack Couch Park, located on Eugene George Way, Kitchener, beside the Kitchener Auditorium.
