Panthers season ends after 1-2 weekend on the road

KITCHENER - The 2026 season has come to an end for the Kitchener Panthers.

After winning its home finale Thursday, the team went 1-2 on the road to finish the campaign with a 16-32 record.

In Toronto Friday night, the Panthers and Leafs split a doubleheader. Kitchener won the first game 7-3, while Toronto took the second game 13-3.

Kitchener scored four runs in the eighth inning to break a 3-3 deadlock. Trent Lawson hit a home run in the fifth while Malik Williams was three-for-four.

Evan Elliott went the distance in that first game, giving up three runs on seven hits in eight innings of work. He walked five and struck out five.

Toronto got the jump early in the second game, scoring four runs in the first and led 9-1 after three innings.

Zane Skansi hit a solo shot in the fifth in the loss. Yosvani Penalver recorded four hits.

Saturday was a finale to forget as the Brantford Red Sox pounded the Panthers 26-3 to end Kitchener's season on a low note.

The Sox scored 13 times in the third inning alone.

Dionys Rodriguez gave up eight runs on five hits in the first two innings. Brett Reid came on with two men on in the third, but gave up five runs without recording an out. Trey Cruz gave up another five runs.
