Panthers Split a Pair of Games, Return Home on Sunday

The Kitchener Panthers were unable to carry the momentum of a Wednesday evening victory against the Brantford Red Sox into their Thursday evening game visiting Barrie, as a short staffed Panthers lineup were defeated by the Baycats.

In their 10-4 victory over the Red Sox, Panthers starting pitcher, Jacob Douglas, threw a strong six innings giving up 3 earned runs on his way to his 3rd win of the season. Grant Shantz picked up a strikeout in one inning of work as he closed out the game.

Simon Grinberg led the offence, picking up 3 hits and 3 RBI. Blake Jacklin and Tyler Hinrikus both had 2 RBI while Keegan Marsden and Stephen Whalen both had a pair of hits as the Panthers cruised to a comfortable victory.

Game 2 of the week was nowhere near as favourable for the Panthers as the offence only put together 5 hits and 2 runs while the Baycats had 20 hits and 15 runs scored. Andy Leader went 2 for 4 and Nathan Laird picked up his 1st career IBL hit in the loss.
