Panthers Split a Pair of Games With London

Game 1

The Panthers finally completed their season opening game from three weeks ago, holding on for an 11-10 victory over the London Majors.

The Panthers led the Majors 5-4 in the top of the fifth inning on May 20 when a suspected gas leak resulted in the game being suspended. It picked up Friday before the teams’ scheduled game at Labatt Park, and the Panthers won 11-10.

Keegan Marsden went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI and two runs for the Panthers. Reece Reading also drove in three and picked up a double, while Liam Wilson had a double and a pair of RBI. Leadoff hitter Jett Jarvis went 3-for-5 with two runs, Stephen Whalen had two hits and two runs, and Robbie Gauthier singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored three times.

Christian Hauck picked up the win, throwing 7 innings and striking out 11. He was charged with 6 runs against, thanks to questionable scoring all were considered to be earned runs. David Bruinsma picked up the save, striking out two and allowing 1 earned run. Pedro De Los Santos was charged with the loss, allowing 5 runs in 1.2 innings of work.

Game 2

Game two of the doubleheader was not as favourable for the Panthers. The Majors capitalized on the Panthers being short on pitching and won by quite a lopsided margin.

Looking Ahead

The Panthers will look to take the rubber match of the 3 game weekend series vs London as they host the Majors for a 2:00 PM Sunday match at Jack Couch Park.
