Panthers surrender lead in loss to London
KITCHENER - The Panthers stormed out to a 5-0 lead, including four runs in the second.
But the London Majors are undefeated for a reason, heating up at the right time to take an 8-6 decision at Jack Couch Park Sunday afternoon.
After going down by five, London chipped away to make it a two-run game.
Eduardo De Oleo tied the game with a two-run home run in the seventh, and the team added another three in the eighth for good measure.
Kitchener was held up by Jose Arias and the rest of London's pitching staff.
Other than a Yosuke Fujie solo shot in the eighth, Kitchener had just one baserunner (a walk) in the final seven innings of work in the loss.
Yadian Martinez had a rough outing, going two plus innings, giving up six runs (five earned). The strikeout artist fanned three in the loss.
Jaryd Lund was credited with the win, going perfect other than the Fujie homer.
Evan Elliott got the start and went five innings for Kitchener, fanning five and gave up two runs on seven hits.
Jose Arias had a six-inning outing for London. He struck out three and gave up six hits. He gave up five runs (three earned).
Yordan Manduley had a two-hit game to lead the Panthers' early attack.
Kitchener is back in action Thursday at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs. First pitch flies at 7:30 p.m.
