Panthers Use Small Ball for 2nd Straight Win
In a game that looked like it would be dominated by pitching early, the bats came alive in the middle innings.
Brantford got on the board in the top of the 1st against Panthers starter Ryan Douglas when Nick Burdett had a RBI single to score Gianfranco Morello. Kitchener would see the Brantford run and raise them a run in the bottom of the frame on a two run blast by Liam Wilson.
It would stay 2-1 Kitchener until the 4th inning when the Panthers added on three more runs, two coming in on a two run single by Stephen Whalen to extend the Panthers lead to 5-1.
Brantford got a run back in the top of the 5th off of Panthers reliever Adam Robertson on a RBI groundout to cut the deficit to 5-3. Four straight Panthers reached base against Sox reliever Bennett Moore to start the 5th, Jett Jarvis had a RBI single and Evyn Sherman had a RBI groundout. The Panthers would also get another run when Liam Wilson scampered home on a passed ball.
Morello would add a Sac Fly for the Sox in the top of the 6th to make it 8-4 but that is as close as they would get as the Panthers pen fired three scoreless innings after that to nail down the 8-4 win for Kitchener.
The Panthers next home game is Thursday July 29th at 7:30pm against the Hamilton Cardinals. Just a reminder that the only way to secure a ticket is to purchase a ticket online HERE or under the Tickets tab on the Panthers website.
