Panthers Welcome Back D1 Lefty Devine

The Kitchener Panthers are proud to announce the signing of pitcher, Liam Devine (Guelph, Ontario), for the upcoming season.

This will be Liam’s second season in Kitchener as the 6”4 lefty suited up for the Panthers during the 2021 season and recorded a 2-0 record with 17 strikeouts in 19 innings pitched.

Liam is currently in his senior season at St. Bonaventure University where he has been enjoying quite a successful personal campaign. He has made 15 appearances, holding a 4.29 ERA with 47 strikeouts in 50.1 innings of work. He has recorded 5 saves on the season and has held his opponents to a .238 average.

In the past few weeks, Devine’s role seems to have shifted from closer to starter as he has logged 18 innings in his last 3 appearances while only allowing 4 runs. His last start on the 12th vs The University of Dayton Ohio was a gem as he turned in a 1 hit, 1 run, 8 inning appearance.

Dispelling the myth that pitchers aren’t athletes, Liam was also a standout goalie growing up and was selected in the 9th round of the OHL draft by the Oshawa Generals in 2014.

Known for his strong character, work ethic and team first approach, Liam will be a great addition to the team’s culture and his versatility on the mound will further bolster a Panthers pitching staff which has gone through major reconstruction over the offseason. With experience as a closer and starter at the D1 level, Devine looks primed to provide the Panthers with high leverage innings this summer.

The 2023 Season is quickly approaching as the Panthers open on the road on May 19th @ Brantford and play their Home Opener on May 21 vs Welland at 2:00 PM. Season Tickets, Flex Packs and Single Game tickets are on sale now, get yours   HERE !
