PANTHERS WIN ON WALKOFF HOME RUN IN EXTRAS

The Kitchener Panthers faced off against their rival, Barrie Baycats, in what was the most exciting game of the season so far. In a game filled with exciting plays, big hits, and an energetic atmosphere at Jack Couch, the back and forth contest featured both teams having six run innings and multiple lead changes until the Panthers walked it off for a 15-14 win in 10 innings. Stepping up with a runner on second base and trailing 14-13 in the bottom of the 10th inning, Liam Wilson secured the victory with a two run blast to deep left centre and sent the Panthers fans home happy.

The Panthers offence once again put together a very strong team showing, piling up 14 hits and scoring 15 runs. The offence was led by Wilson who went 4 for 6 with a double, walkoff home run, three runs scored and six RBI and Simon Grinberg who had another impressive game going 3 for 4 with a home run, two RBI and a walk. Andy Leader picked up a hit, an RBI and scored three times, Evyn Sherman went 2 for 5 with a run scored, Stephen Whalen had a solo home run, Kenny Di Clemente had a leadoff triple and scored and Keegan Marsden had a double and two RBI on the day.

Ted Brimblecombe (1-0) picked up his first IBL win on the mound for the Panthers, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out three over three innings pitched. Brian Grieverson (4-1) took his first loss of the season on the mound for the Baycats, allowing three runs (two earned) and seven hits over five innings of work.
