Panthers win streak snapped in close loss in Barrie

BARRIE - Nolan Machibroda's RBI single for the Barrie Baycats in the 10th inning ended Kitchener's three-game winning streak Saturday.

Kitchener lost 6-5 to round out the pre-All Star portion of its season.

The Panthers had a 4-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth, but Barrie would chip away and tied it in the ninth.

AJ Karosas went four-for-four, and is nine-for-18 in his last four games. Yosvani Penalver extended his hitting streak to four games, scattering three hits.

Dakota Parsons was tagged with the loss, giving up two runs on two hits in an inning of work. 

Owen MacNeil went seven innings in the start, giving up four runs (three earned) on seven hits. He walked five and struck out four.

Braeden Pakkala got the win, striking out two working a perfect 10th inning for the Baycats.

Four Panthers are heading to Hamilton for the IBL All-Star Showdown in Hamilton Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

Yosuke Fujie, Yordan Manduley and Yosvani Penalver were named to the reserve squad for Team North, while Yunior Ibarra was named the starting catcher.

Fujie will also be part of the Home Run Derby which kicks things off at 5 p.m.

The Panthers are off until Friday night in London, before hosting Guelph on Sunday, July 27 at 2 p.m.
