WEEK AHEAD: Panthers play busy Canada Day weekend
KITCHENER - A trio of games in 72 hours for the Kitchener Panthers this week.
Up first is a home date with the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. for Home Runs 4 Charity Night!
It is the fifth of six meetings between the two teams, with the Barnstormers winning three of four head-to-head.
Next up is a trip to see some familiar faces. In Brantford Friday at 8 p.m., the Panthers run into Stephen Whalen and the Red Sox. Whalen was released by the Panthers Tuesday and signed by the Red Sox Wednesday.
It's the third meeting of the year, with Kitchener losing both meetings thus far. The most recent game was a close 2-1 defeat on June 9.
On Saturday night, the Panthers are in Guelph against Andy Leader and the Royals. First pitch is at 7:30 p.m.
Yunior Ibarra has been swinging the hot bat lately. He has hits in four straight games.
Nick Parsons also continues to be red hot in June, riding a six-game hit streak, hitting .305 in that time. This includes home runs in two straight, and RBIs in five of his last six.
Kitchener sits at 4-13 on the season.
