WEEKEND RECAP: Panthers go winless in four-in-four
KITCHENER - Simply put, the Panthers are in a slump.
A four-game weekend did not go their way, including two losses on the road Friday and Saturday in London and Welland respectively.
And then at home on Sunday, despite having a lead, their rivals from Barrie out with a win.
BAYCATS 8, PANTHERS 4
Mateo Zeppieri had two home runs, including a two-run home run in the second that gave the home team a 3-1 lead.
But a costly error from Owen MacNeil tied the game in the fourth and Barrie was off to the races and piled on the run total.
Tristan Desrochers hit a home run and Tristan Clarke hit a pair of bombs for the visitors.
Cesar Rosado struck out 11 in five innings to take the win.
MacNeil was tagged with the loss, going six innings and striking out eight. He surrendered 11 hits and seven runs (five earned).

JACKFISH 4, PANTHERS 3
A ninth inning comeback came short for the Panthers Saturday, who gave the league-leading Jackfish a run for their money.
Kitchener held a 1-0 lead throughout much of the game, courtesy a second inning home run from Yosuke Fujie.
But Welland would tie it and take a 4-1 lead with a three-run seventh, the big hit coming from Robert Mullen, a two-run single.
Kitchener made it close in the ninth, scoring two on closer Deivy Mendez. But with runners at second and third and two out, AJ Karosas struck out to end the game.
Evan Elliott gave up four runs on 11 hits in seven innings of work in the loss. He struck out eight and walked three.
Ben Abram got the win, going seven innings in the start. He struck out five, gave up three hits and one run.

MAJORS 1, PANTHERS 0
Andy Vargas was excellent, but one run was enough to take the loss.
Champ Garner's RBI double in the seventh was the lone run of the game, as the Panthers dropped a decision on the road.
Vargas struck out nine in eight innings of work and walked one. He gave up five hits and the lone run.
Kitchener didn't do themselves any favours, only getting four hits and were 0-for-4 on stolen bases.
Ryan Beitel got the win after pitching the seventh, his lone inning of work. He struck out one and faced the minimum.

Up next, another four-in-four leading into the All-Star Game in Hamilton. Kitchener is in Toronto Wednesday, before welcoming Chatham-Kent Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
